Fall Back

It may be because I was born in November, but I think you'll agree with me when I say fall is the best season. Summer is fun and all but I sweat like a linebacker and there are absolutely no holidays. Unless you count 4th of July which I don't because no one gives me presents on 4th of July. After months bland hot days I finally get to decorate my house. Granted I don't have a lot of decorations because for some reason most decorations either cost a poop ton or are like, hanging decapitated clown heads that talk. I went into the Spirit of Halloween the other day and almost had a heart attack. The little kids in that store were less scared then I was. Suppressing those memories and moving on; here's how fall looks in my house.

There are some decorations visible but this is mostly of picture of my cat.

Still watching Beetlejuice as I type this.
My favorite little guy.

The front step set up.

Little coffin I painted.

As well as the little figure I painted.
I went through Michael's Craft store the other day and had to pick up that coffin and little batty dude. Just some low intensity crafting. I've been spending more time in my craft work space since we've hooked up a TV with a VHS player so why not pick up some mini projects.

Anyway, I hope you're all making your home's adorable and fall themed and posting pictures of them online so I can gawk at them!

Tweedledee and Dum

Tweedledum and Tweedledee
    Agreed to have a battle;
For Tweedledum said Tweedledee
    Had spoiled his nice new rattle.
Just then flew down a monstrous crow,
    As black as a tar-barrel;
Which frightened both the heroes so,
    They quite forgot their quarrel

Ah! Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, perhaps one of my favorite stories of all time. I have a large collection of books and figures all placed lovingly in a china cabinet in my room. The little old lady inside of me loves it. I have two Alice in Wonderland tattoos as well. The badass 22 year old that I am, approves. My collection features most of the characters from the story and it's sequel but not Tweedledee and Tweedledum. So in a moment of exaggerated self confidence I made this:

Because of all the different colors and details involved in this it's taken me a long time to finish these two brothers. Technically they're not even finished seeing as they are floating in a sea of white, a dimension without space or time...

I'll post an update whenever I get around to sewing the twins a home. For now, they're just one more piece to my every growing collection.

Puppysaurus Rex!

At some point this year my Aunt Linda asked me to make her 4 stuffed animals for her 4 young great nephews and nieces. Having a recipient in mind always helps inspire what I make. Nothing can help you get your ideas off the ground than imaging how to make someone else love your product. So what could I make to make these little kids squeal with joy?

Like my Snail Pig I started this project with another animal mash-up. For the first little boy I combined the cute fuzziness of a puppy with the terrifying awesomeness of a T-Rex. Meet the puppysaur!

He's a little top heavy.

Razor sharp plushy fangs

I hope when the time comes, this kid loves Puppysaur and that all my stitching can survive a 3 year old dragging it around by one of his little ineffectual arms. Eventually I would like to get a small dog tag saying "rex" to go on the his collar but one of the hindrances in this project has been not adding any elements a child could potentially kill itself with so no metal tag or choke-able button eyes. But that doesn't mean this hybrid won't be able to chase away a bad dream or a ...man, I don't even know what other toys kids play with anymore!
